Research Triangle Park (RTP) has recently become a new hot spot for openings. Conveniently situated between Durham and Raleigh, this area and the surrounding communities are experiencing a surge in new restaurants, bars and entertainment. One of the newest additions is The Goat, which prides itself on offering a welcome experience from morning to night with coffee and breakfast, co-working spaces, lunch, dinner, drinks, games and volleyball leagues (beginning this summer!), blending hospitality, food, drinks and entertainment under one roof.
The Goat opened its first location in Columbus, Ohio in 2005, and Durham is the first North Carolina location (at 5600 Primary Drive) due to the Raleigh area being one of the fastest growing areas in the state.
The Goat has a relaxed, fun vibe. Guests are welcome to host events in their space with food offerings from their Social Gatherings menu. Once COVID restrictions are lessened, they will host live music inside or on the patio. Also, as a benefit to LC Apartment residents, they offer free pool food and beverage service for a resort-like feel at the LC pool. For those who have not been to one of their restaurants before, some of the recommended “must try” menu items include sweet tea brined chicken & biscuits with house made hot honey; crab cakes; barbacoa smashville tots and their color-changing cocktail: Midnight Orchid, the Brier Creek Bubbly or The Goat signature Blueberry Mule. The full menu is available online.
The Goat plans to put as much care into this opening as they do other openings, however, as with all restaurants opening and functioning during a pandemic, they will have a heightened awareness of their guests and team member’s safety. Protocols they have instated include taking advance reservations; all team members wearing masks; tables spaced six feet apart, including many outside seating options on the patio; sanitizing high traffic areas every 15 minutes and sanitizing tables, chairs and table tops in between guests, and utilizing disposable menus.
While some elements will have to wait until summer (like participating in a volleyball league and taking a dip in the pool between drinks), The Goat at LC Brier Creek is officially up and running and started welcoming patrons on March 31st.
