Despite all the rain last week, it was a big week for grand openings in downtown Durham.

The first was the Ponysaurus Brewing Co. taproom at 219 Hood Street. They’re still working on the beer garden and two-story patio outside, but inside, you can enjoy a pint that actually started in a nanobrewery located inside The Cookery. And, mark your calendars for their grand opening event on October 24th, which is free and open to the public. There will be live music, food trucks, and plenty of beer.

On October 1st, Durham Distillery opened next to the Blue Note Grill at 711 Washington Street. The owners, Melissa and Lee, former scientists, combine gin-making traditions with modern chemistry techniques to create small-batch Conniption Gins and Damn Fine Liqueurs, which incorporate ingredients sourced from local Triangle businesses like Videri Chocolate Factory and Slingshot Coffee Company.

Then on Friday (Oct. 2nd) The Durham Hotel announced that its highly anticipated restaurant run by Chef Andrea Reusing of Lantern in Chapel Hill would be open. This is the restaurant in the main lounge, which is in addition to the rooftop bar. They posted a photo of the menu on Instagram.
It’s weeks like these, with three brand new places to check out, that you really see how much and how quickly the Bull City is growing.
