The American Tobacco district in downtown Durham offers a wide variety of restaurants and cuisine, but there’s one type of restaurant notably missing from the mix…sushi: Enter Basan, a sushi and Japanese restaurant set to open this Tuesday (Jan. 20) on Blackwell Street.
Basan is owned by Eschelon Experiences, a restaurant group that operates several successful restaurants Raleigh, including Mura.

BBC: What is something people may not have tried at other restaurants that you recommend ordering at Basan?
BASAN: We will be serving a three-course “quick lunch” option ($11) for our guests who need to get in and out. We will do our best to have them in and out in around 30 minutes and choose selections that we feel do not need to sacrifice quality while being prepared quickly, so the customer can still leave happy and satisfied.
