**Note: Triangle Seafood Market has closed.
I grew up eating a lot of seafood in a coastal town in the Northeast and it’s definitely a cuisine I miss and crave living here in Durham. It’s true that we have several options already for good fish and shellfish, much of which is harvested within a few hours drive, but I’m always happy to see more seafood in the area—it’s just something I can’t get enough of.
Bites of Bull City recently had the opportunity to check out a new restaurant on the scene called Triangle Seafood, which took over the large corner lot in Brightleaf Square (formerly occupied by Chamas Brazilian Steakhouse).
The new restaurant is perfect for seafood lovers, and one of the most exciting parts about its transformation is that the space will also be home to an onsite fish market, opening December 28, 2015.Pictured above is the seafood chowder with a light, buttery broth and large chunks of seafood. There’s also a fried calamari, mussels and shrimp appetizer with dipping sauce. It’s clear the cuisine has Italian influences from the presentation of seafood to the fried ravioli with pomodoro tomato sauce to the house made pasta cooked al dente.
I love restaurants that make their own pasta. In addition to featuring it in their entrees, Triangle Seafood makes and sells their house made pasta by the pound and will continue to sell it in the market.
